Learn More About the Artist

As a graphic designer and an avid outdoorsman, I thought of no better topic to convey my thesis around than invasive species and how tourists can help prevent the spread in national parks. I have grown up camping, hiking, and backpacking in the Adirondack Mountains here in New York, and as a passionate tourist, I constantly found myself hearing more and more about what I can and cannot bring into the parks and campgrounds. It was not until I got older that I understood why this was the case and was educated by doing a few Google searches on ‘why does my watercraft need to be inspected. (i.e. Zebra Mussels or other invasive species that can latch on to firewood as well).’ The park rangers have signs at the front of the park, but if you drive past them without stopping there is no way in seeing them. Not to mention the only time you are verbally told about invasive species is if you are at a campground checking into a campsite directly with a park ranger.
